lights compared to .229 (78 for 341) in day games...
Began the season sharing time with Adam Piatt in
right field as he started 11 of the A's first 26
games in right before Piatt was optioned on May 2...
Hit just .188 (9 for 48) in 20 games over that
stretch but batted .297 (96 for 323) the from May 2
until the end of the season... Then hit .308 with a
double and two RBI in five ALDS games against New

Jason on June 21 against Seattle and later
duplicated that feat on August 11 against the New
York... The Giambi brothers have now homered in the
same game four times, joining Vladimir and Wilton
Guerrero as the only brother combos to homer in the
same game four times... Had three hits on June 27 at
Seattle to start a 20-game stretch where he batted
.429 (33 for 77) with 19 RBI and seven games of
three or more hits... That lifted his average to a

home runs and 19 RBI in 57 games at the All-Star
Break but hit eight home runs and had 38 RBI in 67
games after the break... Hit safely in each of his
first 10 games after the All-Star Break (19 for 42,
.452) which was the longest hitting streak of his
career... Followed the hitting streak with a 0 for
16 streak... Had his average at the .304 mark
following the game of August 4 but that would be his
final day over .300 for the season... Hit .240 (29
for 121) over his final 44 games to finish the year
at .283... Hit his first career pinch hit home run
on August 19 at Chicago after going 1 for 9 with a
walk and a sacrifice over his first 11 pinch hitting
appearances... The home run came in the sixth inning
with the A's trailing 6-5 in a game they would go on
to win 8-7... Broke a 1-1 tie with a seventh inning
pinch hit RBI single on September 2 at Tampa Bay in
a 3-1 A's win... Then had a bases loaded pinch hit
three-run double on September 25 in the seventh

a 9-3 victory... Went 3 for his last 7 with six RBI
as a pinch hitter... Overall, 23 of his 57 RBI
either tied the game or put the A's ahead... Hit
.444 (12 for 27) against Toronto and his .455 (5 for
